IRTG-SIGI meets Geocrowd

The Geocrowd Initial Training Network (http://www.geocrowd.eu/) is a Ph.D program similar to IRTG and funded by EU. The Geocrowd program started approximately one year ago (summer 2011) and it relates very well to the IRTG for what concerns the addressed thematics. The Geocrowd network spans the following Universities all over Europe:

  • National Technical University of Athens, Greece
  • Universitaet Bremen, Germany
  • Freie Universitaet Berlin, Germany
  • Aarhus Universitet, Denmark
  • Eidgenoessische Technische Hochschule Zuerich, Switzerland
  • National University of Ireland Maynooth, Ireland

Each such university hosts from a minimum of 2 up to 4 Ph.D students for a total amount of 14 full-funded positions.  The topics addressed within Geocrowd are divided into three main themes:

  1. Integrating Geospatial Content Streams
  2. Geoweb Data Management
  3. Accessing Geospatial Content

Interesting collaboration may born between IRTG and Geocrowd in the future as I am sure that both projects will gain a lot in getting in touch with another.
