Dr. Simon Scheider

Dr. Simon Scheider is a postdoctoral researcher coordinating activities in the International Research Training Group (IRTG) on Semantic Integration of Geospatial
Information and in Muenster Semantic Interoperability Lab (MUSIL) at
the Institute for Geoinformatics, the University of Muenster in Germany.

Simon Scheider holds a PhD in Geoinformatics from the University of Münster with a thesis on information grounding, and a Diploma in Geography from the University of Trier.

His research interests include Semantic engineering for data-intensive science and the digital humanities; Meaningful spatio-temporal modelling, analysis and prediction; Semantic reference systems and symbol grounding; Ontology engineering and knowledge representation; Semantic web technologies; Geodata models and geodatabases; Road network data and OSM; Place reference systems for interlinking digital data; Event reference systems; Spatial data mining; Formal theories of action, affordance and environment; Constructivist approaches to logic, knowledge and learning; Geometry and philosophy of place, space and time.
